2020-2021 Season Update

As we enter the beginning of September and the seventh month of the global pandemic brought by COVID-19 we have seen our worlds change with uncertainties, challenges, and restrictions. It has been during these challenging times that our humanity has been come to the forefront and showcased our strong sense of community, commitment, and compassion as we all navigate the “new normal”. The response from Calgary Stetson Show Band in March has afforded our organization the opportunity to successfully navigate many of the devastating effects of societies shutdown, the long road to relaunch, and the uncertainties of COVID-19 and we would like to thank our members for their support. As a result of our swift actions we are able to continue our commitment to provide opportunities for community youth through inspiring, engaging, and purposeful experiences now and into the future in a safe and engaging manner.

In the days to come our many of our members will return to an in-person school setting as per the Alberta K-12 School Re-Entry Plan and we would like to wish all our members a safe and healthy return to school. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the educators who are returning to school in such challenging times and wish the best of luck to all music educators who are working to provide the best learning opportunities amongst many constraints.

With many uncertainties and constraints currently in place surrounding mass gatherings, live music, and instrumental music along with the Alberta K-12 re-entry plan the Calgary Stetson Show Band is officially delaying the start of their 2020-2021 seasons until January 2021 to support our members and the uncertainty of the months ahead. Leading into 2021 our organization will provide members with further information and a clear outline for 2021 activities through July 2021.

At this time the Calgary Stetson Show Band would like to inform current and future members that participation in the 2020-2021 season is not co-dependent on participation in a school music program as a result of the constraints placed on our community by COVID-19. Upon our opening in 2021 we welcome all community youth who are interested in band and the marching arts.

COVID-19 has greatly impacted our community and presented many challenges. The commitment, compassion, and sense of community from our members is exemplarily and has afforded the band the opportunity to weather the global pandemic.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to opening for our community in 2021.
