With everything that has been going on this year, there’s sure to be lots of questions about what band and the future of the activity will look like. While there are still many things up in the air, we hope this offers a little bit of clarity to your questions. What are the goals for this season?

As an organization, our goal is to provide a space that allows our members to play music, dance, and spin with their friends. Community is such an important part of these bands, and we want to ensure that our members can safely be in the company of their band community.  

Why do we need to fill out intent to return forms?

The intent to return forms that we are asking prospective members to fill out allows us to plan for things like rehearsal facilities and staffing in the new year. Things are constantly changing but this gives us a better idea of how to plan for the upcoming season. The forms are also non-committal so you don’t need to worry about making a decision right now.

What performances are we doing this year? 

Currently none of our performances are set in stone. In line with our goals, will still aim to create opportunities for members to showcase their talents throughout the upcoming season. Performances will occur at a time when both the performers and audiences can enjoy in a safe environment, in line with AHS guidelines. 

How are our rehearsals going to work?

Similar to performances, in-person rehearsals will proceed when determined safe by AHS. As an organization, we continue to strive to create a community for our members. Potential changes may be put in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Again, we will be following the recommendations put in place by AHS and this will determine how our rehearsals will operate.  

What is happening with tour this year? 

Because of the uncertainty we still face, tour has been cancelled for the 2020-21 band season. We look forward to traveling as an organization when it is safe to do so. The health and safety of our members is a top priority. 

When will we be getting more information? 

We are planning to have a virtual information session at the start of January for returning and new families to attend. This session will outline the expectations, regulations, and goals for 2021. 

What is band going to look like this year?

Band will be different to say the least. We have received many questions about what the activity will look like with regards to COVID-19. We are closely following the restrictions and recommendations that AHS has been putting forward. When the season starts we will be following these safety measures to ensure the health and safety of our staff, students, and their families.
