What is it like to be part of a marching band?

The members of the Calgary Stetson Show Band work extremely hard over the course of a year.  Here are some interesting statistics about the average performance year:

  • Performance year runs September through to the end of the annual tour, typically end of July or middle of August.
  • The students are involved in approximately 350 hours of rehearsals.
  • There are approximately 25 performance over the course of the year totaling about 100 hours.
  • Members could perform in front of 2,000,000 people, more than most professional musicians will perform in front of in their entire career.

Types of Performances

In the average year, the Calgary Stetson Show Band participates in a wide variety of performances.  Including:

  • Concert Band
  • Parades
  • Field Shows
  • Stand Stills
  • Performance Competitions

In addition, our Colour Guard team also participates in specific performance competitions related to their perfoming arts
